Associate Professor Steve Ogbourne
BSc (Hons) PhD MAICD
Associate Professor Ogbourne holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Plant Science and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He brings to QBiotics Group expert scientific knowledge in the fields of biodiscovery and plant genetics, and significant experience in drug development having held leadership roles in both academic and pharmaceutical sectors.
Associate Professor Ogbourne is an internationally recognised research scientist following his productive roles as a post-doctoral researcher at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) and a pharmaceutical scientist with Peplin and LEO Pharma.
Associate Professor Ogbourne currently holds the position of Associate Professor, Plant Biotechnology at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where he undertakes research focussing on biodiscovery in therapeutic areas including cancer, wound-healing and anti-microbials and on the domestication of Fontainea picrosperma.
Associate Professor Ogbourne also has a passion for conservation and his research team is actively involved in a number of conservation projects relating to several threatened species of plants and animals.
Associate Professor Ogbourne was previously a director of EcoBiotics and was appointed as a director of QBiotics Group on 1 November 2017.
